Argan Oil Skin Care: Every Day Recipes for Natural Beauty

It was only a few months ago that I learned about the value of Argan oil skin care. I was doing research for a special project and became immersed in its fascinating history.

I had heard about it before in passing, but (stupidly) never really paid much attention. But boy-oh-boy did I ever learn my lesson! It is SUCH a great oil!

So far, my results from using it in lip balm and face cream recipes has been fabulous. It has also really helped with getting rid of tangles in my hair – if you saw my hair after a shower you’d get why this is such a big deal!

It is on the pricey side ($20 for 2 oz), but very little goes further than most other oils. This, in my opinion, makes it a good value oil.

Following are some simple blends that I’ve used it in.

My Favorite Everyday Skin Care Blends Using Argan Oil

One of the easiest ways to use Argan Oil is all on its own. Even just applying a few drops to flaky patches on your face and body is helpful. If you want something a bit more powerful, blending it with other oils is even better though.

To begin, let me tell you a bit about how I prepare my blends  as well as how I apply them.

I usually use a small jar, the size that most essential oils come in, to make these blends.

How to Apply the Below Blends:

Try not to use the tips of your fingers to massage the oil into your face. Fingertips tend to be oily and will transfer oil and dirt into your skin. Instead, use the tops of your hand or a soft make-up sponge.

NOTE: The massaging action is very important. It will stimulate circulation (which is necessary for all skin types) and help the oil to absorb into your skin.

Argan oil skin care combined with geranium essential oil is a great blend for all skin types, from dry and sensitive to oily and combination skin.

The use of geranium essential oil is invigorating yet soothing, which makes it great for morning use.

I like to use geranium essential oil when I’m feeling low on energy and need a bit of a lift.

To use:

  1. Add the Argan Oil and Rose Geranium to your jar and gently stir.
  2. Add a small amount to your fingers tips and massage into your skin with the tops of your hands or a make-up sponge.

Combined with essential oil of Ylang Ylang, using argan oil for skin care will help to balance stubborn, combination skin.

Ylang Ylang essential oil is both calming and an aphrodisiac. This makes it a good blend for your night-time routine.

Alternative: If you are going out on the town, mix Ylang Ylang essential oil with a more energizing oil like Geranium or Frankincense. This will ensure you feel both sexy and awake!

To use:

  1. Add the Argan Oil and and Ylang Ylang to a small small bowl. I have a small soy sauce bowl at hand in the bathroom.
  2. Add a small amount to your fingers tips and massage into your skin with the tops of your hands or a make-up sponge.

You can increase the recipe in order to create a ready-to-use jar.

When creating an argan oil skin care blend for wrinkles, combine it with 10% rosehip essential oil with rose essential oil for a gentle and cleansing treatment for dry skin. Rose essential oil is also an emolliant and an astringent, which is useful in an acne treatment.

The effects of rose essential oil on your mood are unique because, even though it’s soothing, it is also stimulating and uplifting.

I tend to use blends with rose essential oil when I’m feeling down, both emotionally and physically, and need a metaphorical hug.

To use:

  1. Add the Argan Oil and and Rosehipe to a small small jar.
  2. Add a small amount to your fingers tips and massage into your skin with the tops of your hands or a make-up sponge.

You can increase the recipe in order to create a ready-to-use jar.

Argan Oil Skin Care Benefits For Natural Beauty

Argan oil is said to be filled with a ton of antioxidants, mostly Vitamins C and E, which are known for being effective for anti-aging skin care routines. It is also rich in elements that make protein, which helps with skin elasticity, something that diminishes as we age.

Psoriasis and Eczema

Many sufferers find that argan oil helps with itch and also helps to keep skin smooth and scar free. I gave it a try after an outbreak of dermatitis I had this past summer and found it very soothing.

Acne, Scars, and Blemishes

It is supposed to help get rid of acne as well as prevent it. It is the high Vitamin E content that makes it effective for these purposes. Turns out the vitamin E is also great for wrinkles!

Dry, Oily, and Combination Skin

Argan oil hydrates the skin. If your skin is very dry and  are finding that other creams and oils just sit on top of your skin give Argan products and recipes a try.

It’s also really great for oily skin. It doesn’t clog the pores. What makes it great for all skin types is that it works to balance the production of sebum (the oil under the skin). This means that you won’t be creating too much or too little oil.
